Once upon a time the Swedish vikings travelled east to today's Russia. There
they settled down and formed a new country. They named it Gårdarike. Now we
have created our own Gårdarike in the open landscape of south Sweden for our
immigrants from the east, Black Russian Terriers.

We have for more then 35 years spent our time with dogs.
In the beginning we had Collies, which we were also breeding. Collies has
since then been in our home together with BRT. |

Our point of view changed after Ingemar returned from UN duty as
dogsquad leader in Sinai.
A very exciting experience and he also learned a lot from it. We used to take
our dogs to shows before, but from now on we also trained them in tracking and obedience.
|
|
We searched for another type of dog more suitable for training, and we found
BRT. In the summer of 1979 Catjenko arrived in our home. The breeders were Tord and
Elly
Svensson, who were the first to breed BRT in Sweden.

|

|
We trained Catjenko under a contract with the army as a watch dog. In the first
competition ever in Sweden for civilian trained watch dogs we finished as group
winners. In the final we got a third place. Catjenko was an outstanding dog.
Character test +232p. He also became S o NUCh and he passed to a
higher class in tracking.

We have since then always had a BRT in our home. During this time Ingemar also became
instructor in the club for working dogs. He also took active part in the
board of directors in the local club for working dogs and in the Swedish BRT
club. Ann-Margreth also took an active part within the club - she was in the PR
department (club newspaper, events and parties).

When Ingemar in 1983 for the second time went to the Swedish Dogtraining
Center in Sollefteå it was for education as a doghandler within the Customs
(handling drug detecting dogs). 1997 he went to the Swedish police academy to educate
himself for a jobb as dogleader for one of the Customs regions. It ment
that he was responsible for testing new dogs, education, training and a
yearly test of dogs in duty.

Ann-Margreth also trains a Flatcoated Retriever, Törnfåglarnas Can’t Hardly
Wait in tracking injured wild animals. ”Rasken” is now Champion in tracking.
He has also passed a test by the Swedish Hunters Association in order to
attend real hunting for birds and smaller wild animals. Ann-Margreth and
Rasken have also participated in such hunting.
Ingemar is for the moment working with a Flatcoated Retriever - a drug
detecting dog, named Kvarnhöjdens Det Regnar Småspik or “Trodde”. It is his third
dog. First he had two Labradors from the Swedish Dogtraining Center.
Ingemar has trained “Trodde” himself.
When we in 2001 started to look for a new BRT we came in contact with Kirsti
Pitkänen, Kennel Zornoi. A very generous person who willingly shared her great knowledge and experience
with us. We have now through Kirsti four BRT;
three females and one male. We are back in training again with our BRTs. We
now have four very nice BRT with very good exterior and mental soundness.
These BRTs are the foundation of our breeding. In their pedigrees there
are many very good dogs both mentally and exterior.
Once a BRT always a BRT!
